Somewhere on this forum I've read that if you can get to 1500 rating without the help of books and such and such, you can get much higher. So I havn't been relying much on books and stuff.
Eh, the point isn't that using books lowers your skill ceiling. The point is if you get good on your own it indicates a high ceiling.
It is better for someone who has the potential to be world champ to use book and other learning tools as soon as possible!
I realize you're trying to get a hint for what your potential is, but this seems like an odd way of doing it.
I want to be at least 1500 rated next year or else maybe chess isn't for me? I like the game, but making progress is important.
Hmm. Why not decide that if you enjoy it, and you can still improve, that you will continue to play? What if you like to play, and you improve a little every day, and you're 1500 in 2 years? Is that so bad?

I started playing chess seriously at the beginning of januari or februari. Mostly online games. I joined a chess club. So far three rapid losses at the club, the last one was my best game at the club, even though I lost.
I'm 25 by the way.
