Mods can you please merge the Lyudmil_Tsvetkov threads into 1 thread.  They are all the same debate topic.

Not at all.

When you will stop with those stupid requests?

The threads clearly treat different topics.

So, you can have someone posting 10 different threads on the Caro-Kann on the main forum, threads with just 5 or 10 posts each, not at all interesting, but you can not tolerate a couple of threads on completely different topics, quite substantial and interesting at that?

Is not that a double measure?

Mergers are often not worth the trouble.  They inevitably raise fears of monopolistic practices as well as threads becoming "too big to fail," thus requiring bailouts.  And the federal regulators start nosing around.  Next thing you know you're spending the next several years in federal court.  Then even if the merger is finally approved, you've already spent the estimated cost savings over the next 25 years on lawyers' fees.

A real LOL.

Two days ago, I bought Human Versus Machine, Part 1 off amazon.com.

It is awesome.

I dig the section on pawns in The Secret of Chess, but the rest is over my head.

Well, over my head until I read https://www.amazon.com/Human-Versus-Machine-Stockfish-Komodo-ebook/dp/B0768G8R2C/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

Now I see clearly

You should buy part 2 too. happy.png

I have let Stockfish 8 analyse this position up to 99 ply (this takes about an hour on 3 overclocked cores). Its evaluation is a 738 centipawn advantage for white,  null

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

A bit more depth would not hurt, I guess. happy.png

Where have you gone, Elroch, I have missed you a lot?

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

Btw., there is already SF 9 available, don't you know?

I don't think it would help with the configuration I have. Actually, now that I think about it, what it needs is a huge hash table, because there are less than a billion legal positions from that position. But a hash table able to hold a billion positions is way larger than is feasible on my 16Gb machine.

Where have you gone, Elroch, I have missed you a lot?

Very kind of you to say so. You know, been playing too much bullet chess of inconsistent quality, some rather good vote chess, discussing contentious subjects, and a lot of time actually doing useful work away from chess.com!

P,S,  I didn't know Stockfish 9 was out, but I do now.

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

It must be out, if I am playing it. happy.png

Only thing I am really sorry is I don't have sufficient time to devote to playing SF, I have so many other things to do.

Slowly though, I guess I will play more games.

The stronger the engine, the more interesting the chess played and analysis done.

There should be a limit on how many forums one can create about the same topic

OK, I was away from the forum for 2 days, very busy, and someone LOCKED 'The Secret of Chess' thread in the meantime...

They promised not to do anything about my threads and my account, and yet I have some powerful enemies that are BREAKING all possible rules.

Mods or not, don't you feel ashamed???

To lock the best chess content and most creative thread?

Until this issue is resolved(I am sure it will), I will be posting here.

OK, the big news is that in the month of March all of my books, and especially 'Human versus Machine', could be acquired for rock-bottom prices.

Currently, the Kindle edition of part I is priced at just 1 dollar, and part II and III at 3 dollars, so anyone who has not read the books, or wants to buy the second and third part can do so in the immediate future.

1 buck for one of the best chess games collections, nicely explained, you surely won't miss that?

Unfortunately, the paperbacks can not go down much, as there are printing costs.

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

OK, I wanted to share some info about the second part of 'The Secret of Chess', where do I do this now?

Mods, please, be more tolerant, this is outrageous indeed.

And the news is that I have currently collected around 2/3 of the games supposed to become part of the volume, around 500-600 games.

To be complete, the volume will have to increase to 700-800 games.

I am not certain if and when I am going to finish it, as it is A LOT of hard work, I start and stop again, hesitating whether to finish it or not.

If I find the stamina, I will finish it, have still to cover 20 or so terms and to fill many more gaps.

Then I will decide what to do, I guess I will need years to comment 800 games, some of which longer than 100 moves, what do you think?

To see if there is any interest, try giving it away for free for a few days. See if anyone wants it even at that price. If there are no takers even if it's free, then you can rule out price as the reason people dont like it. Right now it might still be overpriced. Besides, if it's any good at all, giving away as many as possible for free could get some good reviews. That might be all the promotion that's needed.

Let me post some games I played as of late with handicaps.

In what ways posting GOOD games is breaking the forum rules, dear MOD, who locked 'The Secret of Chess' thread?

In what way doing EXTENSIVE analysis on Aronian-Anand with the help of the best chess engine on Earth, SF, and a lot of intuition, breaks the forum rules?

Now, why did not you tell me beforehand what is wrong with the thread or just sent me a note?

Yeah, I have never been more angry.

I DON'T stand injustice, everything else yes, but injustice no.

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

This is one of the games I won with this imbalance.

Very off-topic, right, very nad game, very uninstructive, very little chess content, and I am attacking everyone around, right.

But don't you really have shame?

So, one can tolerate all kinds of FULLY meaningless threads, threads without a single diagram, but one can not tolerate a thread that is fully on topic and FULL of chess content and good intentions?

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

This one was played at shorter TC, so SF is even shakier.

Anyway, it is nice to be able to beat SF.

One can certainly learn from all types of games, handicap too, so don't underestimate what such games could teach you.

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

One more.

Who is able to win so many games against SF 9?

It is a handicap, but still.

Avatar of Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

And another one.

Again, you might think this is easy, but why don'you try it yourselves?

Anyone who thinks beating SF is worth of attention, please consider getting 'Human versus Machine' for just 1 dollar: https://www.amazon.com/Human-Versus-Machine-Stockfish-Komodo-ebook/dp/B0768G8R2C/ref=sr_1_5?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1519736472&sr=1-5&dpID=41WQ%252BB6063L&preST=_SY445_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

That is, you can decide if you want to buy a book with many games for 1 dollar or spent the buck on a hot-dog.

What do you think is a better investment?

Currently, I might choose the hot-dog, though, when you are hungry, you don't think about books. happy.png
