The funny thing is my otb blitz is at 1900 to low 2000 and I am playing against A-Class(1800-1999 uscf), experts and masters and here I can't even make it to at least 1900.

OH OH!!!! OH!!! OH!!! Let me be the first to say it......CHEATERS!!!

i think cheaters call other people cheaters

Oh, I get it.

You reported me, thereby accusing me of cheating. Which, of course, makes you a cheater too.

Very clever.

Got to say one good thing about A.L.I.V.E.

That punk kid sure finds some good pictures of cute girls to pretend he looks like.

Don't worry, I'm ridiculously bad at bullet and you are ridiculously bad at blitz. We must improve ourselves to be better ;)

huh, that was obvious indeed but, that's the only solution. Wink

Yes. I suppose the answers in life really do seem that simple sometimes.

Hallo Dennis Norman. Low blitzrating  compared to everything else also goes for me, and I think 1400 blitz is ok for a 1800-player.

But how to improve at blitz. Maybe do as A_L_I_V_E and add some greatness?

The problem for me is speed. I need more speed. First speedthing is to use the fastest computersetup, which means a good, fast internetconnection and a computer with mouse, a good table and chair. Ok ergonomics.

I have a plan. I want to try playing shorter and shorter timecontrols, and adapt to them. At this point I am working on 10-0, and when I get reasonbly ok at 10-0, I will go down to 5-2, 5 and 3-2.

Maybe I does it in the wrong order. Maybe I should start playing a lot 3-2, and accept a terrible blunderrate during the run for speed. That means dropping a lot rating before going up again.

KSho99

Well, I think some people just may have a hard time getting used to the time. My blitz rating used to be about the same as my regular rating on chess.com, and then I started playing USCF. Eventually, I got a 1700 rating. I continued to play blitz, but my rating hardly went up. I think the connection is that in USCF, if you find a move that seems good, you don't play it immediately. You calculate deeper into the line, and consider different moves. In blitz, it may be better to play one of the first moves you consider that doesn't have a trick behind it. I think tactics trainer will really help you with recognizing quickly the ideas you have and traps you could fall into. Good luck with blitz!

I have a little clue as to why many strong players on long time controls are really bad at blitz ( not saying that i'm a strong player but my blitz rating is way too low compared to longer time controls ).

1. they tend to over-calculate 1 pattern .

2.they want to land a beautiful tactical blow .

3.they refuse to go back through the blitz games ( because its just a bliz game )

4.sometime they play automatically and realise that too late in the game .

kleelof

Yeah. It took me a while to realize I was doing #3.

Now I go through some games. Not all of them. But ones that invite review.

DjonniDerevnja

I have played six 3-2 games today. It felt bad. I loose. But it maybe helps me get some speed

Kleelof didn't accuse anyone of cheating, he just meant it to be funny. Have some sense humor, don't take things seriously. I thought it was hilarious.

It's a different sport... "I'm great at hockey, but I suck at soccer."  Even in modern fencing (where there are THREE different weapons and therefore three different events) it is almost impossible for a champion in one weapon to be a champion in a different weapon.  Almost impossible...

Thanks Yureesystem. But he was just joking. It was a joke carried over from a thread about cheaters.

Pulpofeira

Not so sure. After a bitter fight he keeped with A_L_I_E, I added some irony to the issue and he accused me of being her/his sockpuppeter!

Do not post in these forums for advice. You are only asking to be insulted, and being told the obvious.

dpnorman

@klought9 Yeah, no kidding. Learned that lesson the hard way. The most amazing thing was random people not believing me, thinking that my situation is impossible. Why would I make anything up just to post it on chess.com?
