You will eventually if you put work into it. I was 1000 when I started playing. Even a few months ago, I was only 1600.
i keep playing and keep playing and my rating seems to decrease

Nice beating the 50 percentile ![]()
You probably figured this out already, but "rating pools" matter a ton. In the rating pools of you versus the top 9 chess players in the world...you are probably always going to be 10th. Against a rating pool of players under 500, then you are likely the best one there ![]()
It is all relational to who you are playing. Yes, that chess.com 50 percentile is correct, but people are more casual online than OTB and also, there are more "beginning" players than really experienced ones, so that skews the data downwards.
when I joined a local chess club about two years ago, I was rated just over 1500 chess.com rating and I was paired with the weakest player in the club...I lost badly. It is all relational. It is still a cool accomplishment though ![]()
Hehe them I'm in the top 10% of all rapid users
ngl but idk why I got that I'm the ultimate patzer
Funny but actually I've found some of the most humble chess players to be rated around 2000 rating. They are just good enough to crush most regular players and realize just how much better titled players are to them! Crazy, but when you are lower rated, you don't know how much you don't know. ![]()
Well percentiles are very deceptive tbh. It shows I am better than 95 percent of the peeps , but I really don't think I am that good lol

Is it a coincidence that you're rated around 2000 yourself
lol no - I meant actually 2000. My highest on chess.com was only in the 1930s now and I'm currently only over 1900 barely. I noticed this even when I was rated around 1600 or so. 2000 players generally seem nicer than other ratings I think. Granted, some 2000-ish players are very arrogant, but I mean on the whole, most seem humble at that rating level. I don't consider myself in the realm of 2000 yet...maybe one day ![]()
Would be interesting to see the full distribution rather than just what % you are higher than in order to answer questions like "at what rating will I be stronger than 99% of other players?"
On your stats page, click on global. The distribution curve will be in the top right. To answer the question that you raised, use your rank and percentile to determine the number of active players (rank/(1-percentile). Then starting on the right, add the number of players at each rating level until you reach the 1% value.
I mean, ur 850 rated in rapid, so if ur better than 50% of the accounts on here that have played rapid, that is worrying
But good job i guess
well, if you are better than the half.. that also means you are worse than the other half of chess.com ![]()
what a loser post
give the man some credit dude, hes probably taken a long time to get to where he is now
not exactly long, it took like a month after losing 12 games in a row
I'm headed for 1200 in at least 3 more months
it feels good to be high rated lol
wish i could get up to ur level...
