I don't understand this game analysis, the computer is wrong

His next move is a Mistake (mate in 5)  only (no it its't...)

No way I would play Rd2... obviously it will be taken and I can't recapture. Does the computer just think I'm stoopid?  So it assumes I'm going to play these dumb moves and he can checkmate me?

Another dumb move the computer said I would make is d5... why? I could just go f7 to get a queen.

I agreed to a draw from the starting position here, I was white, I dunno who would have won in the end.

The computer is right - you have to give up a rook in order to avoid getting checkmated.

ooohhhh Rh1 is checkmate...  dang, lucky he offered a draw

ok but why did the computer play d6 instead of f7? he black messed up and gave me a couple more moves i could have got a queen

The computer knows that 4...f7 is completely futile because of 5. Ra2 and mate next move, so it doesn't see why 4...d5 would be any worse.

Game over, dude. Game over.

This is often the first mate people learn.

Not really the same thing because i had a rook too, and he had to keep me in check because i was 2 moves away from a queen. He didn't see it either so I'm fine with it, I got a draw out of the game

Computers do not think, just yet.

Sorry, it was unstoppable.

I guess the computer did think. He thought to itself I've lost this game so Ill just play d5 instead of f7, because it doesn't matter anymore. That's something humans do, not computers. It's kind of scary. Maybe this chess computer has developed consciousness.

Well, if you're interested in improving, the engine showed you some new stuff. For example that mate pattern (you said you didn't realize black was threatening mate).

Or sure, you can ignore it, whatever.

Actually now that I look at it again I never would have played 2. Rd1

It the game I just kept moving my king back and forth. As long as my rook stays on a1 this mate isn't possible

It didn't matter if you would play Rd1 or something else. It was mate in 4 anyway.

This is what actually happened, then he offered a draw and I accepted

Rd1 was necessary. It seems you still don't understand the mate pattern.
