I feel that most of the time a player is just angry when they accuse someone of cheating. That being said I feel the best way to handle it is to give them some time to cool off. Afterwards they may even appologize. I wouldn't take it personal.
I guess I am a cheater now...
If you haven't been called a cheater on this web site, you aren't playing much. You need to get over yourself.
I've been here over a month and have not received one nasty note of any kind, yet I see them on almost every profile. I must be doing something wrong lol.

Win more and win quickly against stronger opponents. Hang in there, it'll come.

If I call you a cheater will that nullify the statement of you doing something wrong? CHEATER!
Just kidding.
From this thread http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/chesscom-policy-on-cheating What should I do if my opponent accuses me of cheating?
If your opponent accuses you then you can just disable chat and continue your game with a clear conscience (assuming you are not cheating!). Don't worry about accusations, just play your game. If you want you can add them to your blocked player list so they cannot contact you again.

A titled player here has a great response when accused of cheating.
Give the accuser the link to report you. Nothing more.

I have no idea what this player complain was. The little I was able to understand was some sort of Time-lagging hack or something. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is this actually possible?
Yep.

I'm gonna use this!

This just happened to me the other night on Internet Chess club.
I'm roughly 1200 blitz and I got matched with a 1700 level blitz player. It was just a 3 minute game...and at one point I even tried to 3 fold draw him because I thought I was losing but he didn't. We got to a rook and 1 pawn each endgame, when he made a terrible blunder when, all he had to do was simply capture my pawn...and he didn't...and I simply queened and he resigned.
He then goes on with the blah blah blah cheater, you're playing 1900 level moves blah blah blah. I typed out report me then and hit enter but he had already "censored" me.
Purely ridiculous. And honestly, I ended up quite happy actually that a 1700 player told me I was "playing like a 1900"

I miss this. The higher you get, rare it gets someone to say this. Need to play more unrated vs those guys for fun.
The frustration you see on them, when they lose badly becouse they are bad, but they think that almost they win and start to call cheater or any bad words is one of the best moments in chess :)
Im the one that make the accusation and the player was disconnecting and connecting on a 3 minutes game, he thougth on one move more than 1 minute and we get to the end with queen and king on my side i think, and the player never resigns, not to mention that after that minute that he took to "think", we both get to the end with 1 second at the end I mate him, for me he was cheating, lagging or dissconecting.
Not to mention the the player that i accusse only play blitz, on a logical way, you can not play a great level of blitz and be very bad or not play standard, you can check my profile, my games and take out conclutions.

I have never been called a cheater, and I wouldn't dream of cheating, because cheating is wrong, although I feel people have been cheating becasue somehow my oppoment got 2 moves in a row!! I was playing normal chess and the memory of my oppoment winning due to 2 moves in a row really confuses me... i don't know if my oppoment did it or my computer was agaisnt me but this really confuses me, so please let me know if you have a clue of what happened

If you ever get hot and boddered by cheating accusations, you might try a new challenge to help you cool down.

I normally come to play for fun. I get angry when I lose, and I get sarcastic when I win. You know how most competitive people get.
Anyway, today, I was accused of cheating by http://www.chess.com/members/view/SofiaQueen16

If so, I honestly don't give a flying f... yet again, all who played against me know that I make huge mistakes and every now and then I make beautiful moves when my brain works at its maximum.
With that being said, accusing another player of cheating just because you "think" he is cheating is just plain stupid and disrespectful. Additionally, to insult the player calling names, posting on his wall, etc, goes beyond the limits of how Internet behavior should be. I don't mind to be trolled at, or even insulted for my luck when playing, or my stupidity when making horrible moves. We all here to have fun and to learn right? If by any chance you face a player like the mentioned above, just don't bother. Go to forums and post your findings. You will find comfort when writing about something or someone who is being a royal douche, just because he/she wants to be like that.
Have you find yourself in this situation?
Take it as a compliment and move on...
