Why do you care what the number is? It was stupidly overrated in the first place. Hey, I'm 1100 on chess.com. and my max puzzle was 2551. That's absurd. Besides, the goal of doing puzzles is to improve your chess, not some silly number. And 26 correct in a row is nothing to sneeze at!! That's the focus I'm going with now. I've changed the difficulty level to Standard instead of Hard so that the puzzles I'll get are more in keeping with my skill level, and I'm going to work on streaks, not numbers.
I hate this new puzzle system.
Change the difficulty to extra hard. You'll get more rating per puzzle (around 6-8), less lost rating if you get it wrong, and you'll have a harder puzzle to work out.
Yeah, they're not all +2. I've got mine set to normal or medium or whatever and I'm getting an average of +4 but the wrong ones are brutal, something like -20 or so. But it depends on the puzzles, they're not all the same gains or losses. The ones I lost a lot on I deserved to lose a lot because they were easy & I should've got em right.

-20 should be extremely rare since the change, regardless of difficulty setting, unless you're still overrated.
I am only 1300ish and my puzzle rating was 2000+ now it's 1500+ more tuned to rating, this new system is amazing!

Thank you - this has helped a lot!
I’d come to terms with the sudden dip on the rating graph ruining my stats.
What I’m frustrated about is how much worse the disparity between correct and incorrect puzzle scores now is and what it means for players who like to train daily.
For instance, I’m a little poorly currently (it’s October, what can you do) and still wanted to be disciplined and do some puzzles. Started off well enough, but gaining +2 per puzzle is slow progress indeed. When I got the final move of a sequence wrong and lost -13, I rushed the next one out of frustration and got it wrong as well. And then two more. That’s -52 in four puzzles, a stat that will take TWENTY SIX CORRECT PUZZLES IN A ROW TO BREAK EVEN.
I’m on an old-style gold membership. I get 25 puzzles a day. I will have to spend my entire puzzle allowance tomorrow and get a perfect score to gain what I lost in 30 seconds of slight headache-induced poor calculation. This system sucks.
Mine went from 3500 to 2000, someone i know lost 2000 points, from 3500 to 1500 which is crazy
I am a beginner and have only been doing puzzles regularly for six months.
The method described by the author of this thread is the one I have known since the beginning.
I haven't lost points, I've gained a few.
It seems that those whose ratings have dropped have benefited from favorable conditions and that the new system is rebalancing their scores.
Everyone have different opinions but I think that this new puzzle system is better
Why is that? bring facts
My best rating was about 2960, now 1600. Both are absurd as I am still floundering in three figures for Rapid 😆

For me, old system just wouldn't give challenging problems. I thought If I climb in rating, eventually problems would get I fun and challenging. So I got my rating to 4.5k, yet It kept giving me trivial problems so I lost motivation and just quit doing puzzles here.
New system is more concistent in giving you challenge based on your rating level, and 2500 puzzles are already very challenging. At least I find puzzles fun again after a long time

I think the puzzles themselves have gotten better, but the rating is my problem
