One of my earliest games here came down to mate +2 and the guy offered a draw. I declined and he immediately offered again. I declined again and he sent a message saying, "enjoy ur wait". He had over 5 minutes left on his clock, so I made my move and waited. He let his clock run down.

Decline the draw, get some eggnog and cookies in the spirit of the season, think happy thoughts of sugarplums and fairies, and then crush his sorry a**.

I type into the chat window: "Please explain your drawing chances". Not once have I received any analysis, though a few have resigned immediately.

You should have told him no problem as you were multi-tasking anyway. And that you only play chess to help you relax while doing Sudoku problems, balancing your checkbook and responding to your fan mail letters.
When he replied "fan mail?"
Your reply is; "Why yes I get a letter from your mom each week." And that you believe she is writing you from prison. Also ask him; "Does she still have my name tattooed on her ... ?"
That would have fried his little brain. Might have started a fight too, but what the heck. Play with matches and all that. :)

Another thing that annoys me is when they've clearly lost but don't resign; they just leave the game to time out to keep you waiting

Poor Santa, musta been some crappy cookies that year. :(
look at http://www.chess.com/forum/view/game-showcase/never-surrender I probably should have resigned but i ended up winning, but there is no way that if i ever offered a draw he'd have accepted, and there is no way i could have explained my drawing chances... also last year i was using my cell phone as a modem and lost several games i was winning and left many games i was losing waiting for me to time out... so you just never really know but offering a draw when you are clearly losing is terrorism. We should start a bad losers forum topic listing these poor sports.
I've been playing unrated recently on FICS, and unrated has certain advantages. Whenever they offer me a draw when I'm clearly winning, I immediately resign heh. i.e. not even worth my time

I feel like sophisticated (well, relatively speaking) insults like these go unappreciated as my opponent usually responds with an unending stream of misspelled and repetitive profanity :( But now and then I try, and this was funny "I believe she's writing me from prison" lol

And before you guys look up my profile (that somehow didn't sound right) I'll tell ya right now, I'm rated only at 1164. So I'll save you the trouble and just lob it in your wheelhouse. At one time (3 years ago) I had a much higher rating, which to me means nothing because this is just a game. I'm not trying to join the federation or anything like that and I guess one could make the argument that I am trolling forums. So what ?

If you are losing a game, plus your queen gets taken, do not offer a draw. I am winning - Why should I accept a draw ? Is this regarded as good manners by some people ? Happened a good few times already.
