"Game drawn - timeout vs insufficient material"

I did not know, that it can be draw if your time runs out.

It is very useful to know that if you don't have enough time to win by getting a checkmate, sometimes you have such an overwhelming material advantage that you can eliminate all your opponent's remaining pieces (except for the king), and guarantee at least a draw.

If your opponent does not have enough pieces to checkmate when you run out of time. It is a DRAW.

So "insufficient material" = king only? It's good to know indeed. What about king+bishop? I think I heard sometimes that a single bishop alone can't checkmate but I'm too noob to know if this is true

The automatic draw on timeout positions is for king only. As someone will undoubtedly post here, there are some positions where a king and bishop can mate.

Sometimes a king and bishop is called insufficient material, even though sometimes it's enough to checkmate.  It just depends on what pieces the opponent has and what position they are in. The times when a king and bishop only (or king and knight only) can give checkmate is so rare I think they just consider it a draw.

Yes, here such cases are considered a draw, although l*****s does things differently.
