I lose if I answer a text and come back to game

Even if I have time on clock and it takes only a few seconds, I return to game and opponent wins.  Why is that

Because your phone disconnects you from the apps you aren't using.

thanks for your response.  Actually, i dont use the app, i log on to chess.com from my browser.  Would that still be the same issue?

If the process causes the internet connection to drop, it should be handled just like a normal abandonment process.

Sometimes it is like a dropped internet connection and I will pull down on screen to refresh and it goes back to where we were in the game.  But too often, i return to the game in 30 sec or so to have the end game screen saying that white won or black won

I read the article u sent and it must be the disconnect timer formula.  I play 10/0 games and that gives me 60 sec.  Although I know it has ended my game quicker than that before, this must be where the problem lies.  Thank you @martin_stahl

You just switch tabs to answer or? Also, it says after each game why/how it was a draw, win or loss - for example by resigning, by timeout, by agreement, by repetition etc, what does it say when you answer the messages?

Yes, I just switch tabs to answer.  And when I go back to the game, it will say white won (when I'm playing as black)
