If the process causes the internet connection to drop, it should be handled just like a normal abandonment process.

Sometimes it is like a dropped internet connection and I will pull down on screen to refresh and it goes back to where we were in the game. But too often, i return to the game in 30 sec or so to have the end game screen saying that white won or black won
I read the article u sent and it must be the disconnect timer formula. I play 10/0 games and that gives me 60 sec. Although I know it has ended my game quicker than that before, this must be where the problem lies. Thank you @martin_stahl
