I think I read once that cheetah's were so genetically similar that birth defects were a distinct threat to the survival of the species.

Their brains were bigger but I thought our frontal lobes were larger. They had a swept back kind of forehead and skull structure and the extra brain mass was more for sensory stuff and other things not necessarily related to higher level thinking.
