Perhaps nobody new has signed up to chess.com?
I signed up to be a greeter!
I have seen lots of new people sign up and set up games under open seeks. So what do i have to do to play some greeter games.
Beeing a greeter isn't that great. It's more of a convinience for the few people that actually ask questions or help, but i haven't played a game as a greater that didn't end in a timeout under 5 moves.
we take the people with the lowest avg time per move first...
So THAT'S why I'm not getting any greeter games. I'm a Chess Turtle. It's starting to make sense now. I'm not the slowest person on Chess.com, but I thought I was when I started this thread.
Does the "maximum number of games" include Greeter Games? I ask this cuz I see a place where it asks for the maximum number of Greeter Games. Are they counted separately? Do you assign them to people who are online at the time of the request (would make the most sense)? Cuz I'm online WAY more often than I should be. How many other people do you have to go thru before a greeter game comes all the way down to me?
I love helping new members get acquainted with the site. And if I'm online when they start the game, I can usually stay in the game and keep playing until THEY log out. My average is so low because of all the other games that I'm not playing when I'm locked into the one that I am. But you can ask anyone, if we're both online at the same time, I CAN move quickly.
I wanted to sign up, but I couldn't find the link.
It's in your online chess settings.
I'm also a turtle, that's probably why I don't see much greeter action neither.

Thanx.....
I signed up to be a greeter and I have yet to play any greeter games. What is up with that!
i did that once too. be patient and don't be anxious, because once you styart getting the games. they'll come in a flood. to do the job right. i suggest you type a macro into the messages box explaining how the site works and telling them that the games are correspondance and do not continue all the way through to conclusion. this is important because i'd estimate 80% of the new players think that you continue the game all the way. sometimes you nreed to sleep, and invariably a large percentage of the newcomers will give up during this time. when i was a greeter. i'd estimate the time out percentage to be at least80-90%. hang in there though. if you can get this message across to them. you will be doing a great service. not just for them, but the chess.com community as a whole. turn them on to the features available here. like the videos, training programs, and all the things that make this the most popular chess site on the internet. i hate to brag or seem too enthusiastic, i'm just trying to get erik to toss me a bonus or something ( suck....suck....suck-up ). have fun, and do what you do.aloha,...ppeets
I tried it briefly but got out of it when I realized that it would fill up my archive with mostly short, often incomplete timed-out, and low quality games. This would over time make a real mess that would interfere with tracking my usual games. If the greeter games could be archived separately with the option to include in the regular game archive (in the case of an interesting greeter game). I might change my mind about it since it is a service to the site. But not at the cost of adding hundreds of mostly trash games to my archive.
