@68
You are right, my bad.
WCM = 2000
FIDE we have a problem.
some blokes on a website disagree with your title requirements.
better do something about it, pronto.
Yes we do have a problem. A whole generation it seems believes titles should be given out whether they are earned or not. Let's cheapen the titles that a lot of people have worked hard for and make those titles nothing more than a joke.

FIDE does have certain requirements which need to be met to award a title. If you don't like the requirements, then... well, nobody cares.
If you are worth of a title, just go and show it on the board. Else, you are just a growler.
No WCM is lower than 1500 on chess.com so this isn't true.
So confident
@michou228
OMG ok I'm sorry everyone I was wrong
haha lol
I agree with OP. FIDE changed the starting rating to 1400, so getting WCM is sooo easy right now
true...

And- guess what: A previous rating of 2000, which was necesssary to get the title, has changed to... 2000. Only lower ratings were affected by the change.
Now it does sound easy, right?

That's what the problem is. Many are given the titles without earning them. Its like putting lipstick on a pig. Its still a pig.

what title?
You all underestimate how hard 2000 fide is. It's way harder than chess.com. You need to be at least 2300 on chess.com.
Well I can asset this definitely isn't true
@48 I have a FIDE rating of 1623, and I can send you a WCM with a fide of 1500 on her profile. I'll get that now

FIDE has this thing that they give out titles for "achievements" rather than for rating. So according to her bio she got her WCM title not by hitting 2000 but by having a good performance at the Olympiad. It's quite common. Alex Botez, for example, is a WFM despite never hitting 2100.
Women can already gain men titles if they want to. I dont see whats the problem to motivate them with special women only titles as well.

Your blitz rating is something like the bottom 5% of NMs though. I looked at your games expecting you to be moving really slowly, but you don't do that. Maybe some people are just bad at blitz? shrug*
Or I guess... one of those people who got the master title many years ago and then took a long break from chess.
If someone is actively >2200 OTB, active in online blitz, and under the age of, IDK, 40, then I'd expect their blitz to be 2400 at least, and has high as 2600-2700.
I think I hit just about every one of your points - no longer <40, got the master title many years ago then took a long break, and kind of just not that good at blitz anymore anyways
I proudly wear my bottom 5% badge.

WCM = 1800

This is a new requirement (=after 2018) for direct titles which are awarded at certain events. Previously no minimum rating was required. One can still get the WCM title at the Chess Olympiad without a rating requirement.
For normal acquirement of the title, see article 1.3.4 in your link (minimum rating 2000).
