I think the WCM title should not be given out anymore

The Olympiad is a tournament at which you represent your country. Your country chooses you. Jersey chose her as its first board and she won 4 out of 10 games. If you’re dismissive of that, well, you need to get your country to select you to represent them at an Olympiad and then win 4 out of 10 games there as well. Until then it just sounds like sour grapes from you

She's from the same country as me. Jersey isn't even a country, it's English. Shows it's a joke of a tournament.

So by that you meant you think of her as from the UK like yourself, rather than saying that you’re from Jersey as well?
Good luck with Guernsey thing - still wouldn’t mention to them that you don’t think they’re a real country though. They finished 166th in the Open section (33 places behind Jersey) so it should be a walk in the park for someone of your ability - looks like 2 people on the team didn’t even have FIDE ratings when they went https://chennai2022.fide.com/open-standings/

And by “putting in the work” I meant actually playing OTB and earning representation - she continues to put more work into her chess and improve. She’d only been playing for 18 months when she went to that Olympiad. Put in the work yourself and you’ll surprise yourself with what you can do, but try not to disparage others while you’re at it, because it’s just mean spirited.

My wager offer still stand btw - I see that the Olympiad is held every even year, this years is impractical but 2026 is in Uzbekistan - surely you can earn representation for Guernsey in that time and earn with CM them? It’s so easy!

I'm only allowed to play OTB in summer holidays. I started playing chess OTB last summer and was terrible and didn't really know how to play.

Then over the last year I improved really fast and get coached by Danya and am 2500 on lichess and beating CMs in classical training games so I think I could get titled this summer but probably next summer idk. I don't really like chess too much my main hobby is BJJ.

I’m hearing nothing but excuses, just like I expected. Have a think about why Robert’s title bothers you so much - it’s basically jealousy and a sense of entitlement on your part, because she’s earned hers and you haven’t, despite your belief that you could “if you really wanted to”. I expect that if you do ever earn a title (which seems highly unlikely at this stage since you don’t even like chess that much) you’ll be much more respectful of the time & effort she’s put into it

Just read about jersey and Guernsey I cant be bothered to explain why they're not real countries.

Your lack of effort in this and in chess is why you’ll always remain some rando on a chess website and not someone who’s represented their country like Roberts has.

Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man aren’t even part of the United Kingdom, but the Olympiad allows England, Wales and Scotland to compete as separate entities as well, rather than forcing them all to compete together as the UK.

Your relatives in Guernsey would no doubt be ashamed to hear you talk about them as “not a real country”

I'm already titled strength, I get coached by Danya and do 90+30 against titled players all the time lol I will play in July when school ends.

"All the time" sounds a bit surprising. Are there many titled players who sit around playing 90+30 games against amateurs?

MaetsNori

I see, that explains it.

And yet here you are, making ridiculous claims in the forums. I guess that means you know that you’re making this site suck harder than it otherwise would.

Except that "time and effort" are not the point of chess titles. The kid is a lot better than her at chess so he is more deserving of a title IMO

SoupSailor

Either way, her title is irrelevant to the general discussion of the WCM title, it has more to do with the ridiculous tournament titles
