I took 82 minutes solve 35 easy tactics puzzles. Should I continue to live any longer??

I wouldn't worry about it. With tactics, repetition is the key. Periodically keep going over the tactics problems, and you'll get better & faster at them.

It's not too old to become a good player. Obviously you probably won't be a GM.
Once you start, it takes a while for anyone to improve - if you look at GM Hikaru, he started under 1000 rating, and after a year, he was 1400-1500 (around that). Even he took a while to get better, even though he has so much talent.
Also, just learn from your mistakes, and get better! The fact that it took you so long means you have a lot of room for improvement, and so when you improve, your rating will jump must faster.
Scentists have shown the brain keeps learning. An 80 year old man can learn as well as a 12 year old if he has not got any real damage or Disabillity. They also show that our brains can hold any amount of information easily. Repetition is the key and no life! some people think you need to play everyday, if you do focus on different areas. The brain is a muscle and therefore needs rest like all our other muscles along with good diet you can be a v good player in a few years time. Thats what I've been told. Just remember it is a game so make it fun!

An old Howard Stern, under Dan Heisman's guidance, went from beginner to like 1700 or 1800 (if I'm not mistaken). So, at 23, you have plenty of youth on your side. You are only a year or so into chess, and as others have mentioned, it can take some time for you to improve. Play people a little better than you so you can practice both attacks and defense. You'll start to see patterns in games, things you can exploit, things to protect against, etc. Good luck!

I began in chess.com 2008 with a 1200 rating and aftre looking at many puzzles am now 1500. So not a 'genius' even with study but am enjoying this rating as many challenges remain.
On your live-longer puzzling question; Yes-people who interact and develop intelligence will solve the age-old dilema of living longer!!

Why revive this... the OP more recently made a thread thanking me and others for his rating increase.

My mistake, sorry about that. I had added the OP as a friend, and on my homepage it has suggested threads to look at, this being one. I didn't pay attention that the last post was several days ago.

This is 2:50am here in India and suddenly I can't sleep anymore, anyway almost 13days ago I started reading a book by Dan Heisman. Now I'm noticing improvements in my game, 30% of the book is still left. So the bottom line is my ratings in rapid chess improved by 100+ points and in daily chess my rating is 1350+, I am playing only daily chess now. I don't know if my rating will be stable or not and if I'm going to achieve my goal 1500 rating in daily and rapid chess within remaining 47 days. Thanks everybody for your advises and help, CHERUB you are the best. Thank you so much, I often read your comments on other posts, and I find your approach of guiding people is very structured and realistic. You are doing a good job for free. Lol. I am also improving my English, I hope you guys understand me.
