the handles i chose were chosen because guest71, 71 was my year of birth and guest2563 was slightly more complicated but 25 was my age in 1996 when i had my first breakdown and 63 was the house number of my fiancees house which was sanctury from my illness had aged 25.
i was mistaken for bobby fischer

i resigned in the simul because a rook is difficult to stop three connected pawns and though i was also the exchange up against nigel i was unlikely to stop them, while it was snowing and i needed to get a friend i had brought with me back the 2 hour 30 minute drive to my home town. the friend lasted 5 minutes and 8 moves before resigning while i lasted 4 hours before resigning.
Woah, amazing...
Do you have the link to the video?
And how's your health these days and what happened to your fiancee?

my health is getting better i have been out of hospital since 2007 now and havent talked to my fiancee in 18 years despite me still having strong feelings for her.
Agadmator was your fiancee?

i believe you were that guest. As far as using a computer is concerned, I don't see how you could have unless you had someone helping you, that they were putting the moves into Fritz for you and telling you the moves. But at 3/0 it doesn't seem all that feasible and Fritz would have probably only been 2200 at that speed if so, no match for Short.
Everyone is suspicious of players these days. The Hans Niemann controversy and the finding out that many titled players have used an engine online has made matters worse. I recently read that players are being accused otb, most of the accusations ridiculous but many people don't trust anymore.
I haven't played in otb in a long time. I was otb USCF 2000s rated (expert) for a long time. There was actually a brief period in which I was approaching USCF master strength (2200), I was playing the best I had ever and finished well in four otb tournaments in a row with performance ratings between 2130 and low 2200s in each. That was back before engines had made much of a splash. Time at work took over and my strength/rating slid back down. I can just imagine if those six months had been during this more recent period I might have been accused by someone or could have had suspicions up among a few players.

Hello let me set the scene, In 2001 on the Internet Chess Club, Nigel short played me and thought he was playing Bobby Fischer.
Most of the people on this forum are 12 years old. Not only do they not remember that, they don't even know who Nigel Short is... you're wasting your effort.

I can help.
Nigel Short, the greatest British hope in Chess since Staunton, jumped out from FIDE to play a world championship match with Kasparov. This is what he is most famous for. Second would arguably be his failed attempts to run for FIDE president, followed by his well known position/stance that women's brains are "less than" and that women therefore cannot ever hope to play chess at the world championship level. Ironically, Judit Polgar cleaned his clock for him in a chess/com rapid match soon after some of his more strident pronouncements on this topic, and he has kept it mostly under his hat ever since.
The "I played Bobby Fisher online, but he was anonymous" is also something he is known for. The reality is that some FM backed by Rybka probably trolled him. Why *anyone* would be "sure" they were playing Fischer is anybody's guess.
