Why won't my boomerang come back?
Ideas for new thread topics
1. What is the crossover point (limit) between Live Chess and Turn-Based Chess?
2. How long will it be before the World Chess Championship is played electronically (perhaps using chess.com)?
3. What will be the next, substantial FIDE-sanctioned rule change in chess (and why)?
4. If chess games were copyrighted, such that you were prevented from playing exactly the same game as had already previously been played, would that be a good thing or a bad thing?
5. Why does Erik spell his name with a 'k' and 'not with 'c'?
...and
6.Why is artfizz keep coming up with these funny ideas ?
Just trying to stay one step ahead of kco - which is getting tougher all the time.
It looked like Timotheous's theme is doing well about 'themes'
artfizz posted some topics,
1. What is the crossover point (limit) between Live Chess and Turn-Based Chess?
good question.
2. How long will it be before the World Chess Championship is played electronically (perhaps using chess.com)?
never, it will remain a live- OTB event - due to commercial value of advertising during the event.
3. What will be the next, substantial FIDE-sanctioned rule change in chess (and why)?
I think this should be modified to insert the word USEFUL.
4. If chess games were copyrighted, such that you were prevented from playing exactly the same game as had already previously been played, would that be a good thing or a bad thing?
bad, - re-inventing the wheel seems to be a unique human quality - and failing to study history allows us to innocently repeat history. not allowing kids to re-discover old theories and concepts would prevent them from learning.
5. Why does Erik spell his name with a 'k' and 'not with 'c'?
He didn't get to choose his name, his parents did. but folks could speculate forever on why - or why doesn't he change it.
just as bored as artfizz and kco.
New topic then--- have just lost game to a 1200 player in tournament... no surprise there he is now around 1560 !Topic is that on objecting to be paired with unseeded new player unexpectedly admitted to a tournament it transpired that this is allowable even though there is obviously no means then of normal balancing or matching players or teams.Another new 1200 also beat me in first game Watch this space ! Theme tourneys for 1200's
Hey ! you forgot question nos 6.
"6.Why is artfizz keep coming up with these funny ideas ?"
Good question!
Does one think the layout of the forums keeps the circular arguments circulating? Maybe a redesign would alleviate the frustration of simplistic and repetitive threads. As for Question 5, Mom said Erik was a Norse God of no hair. Case closed now!
Here is an idea for a new thread. Create a novel (about anything) Chess, murder mystery, etc... using the names of players here. Like it was a darkandstormyknight when erik found the wig of his dreams. Get it?

5B. What's the fundamental characteristic that leads some people to use their given name (e.g. Erik) as their moniker on this site - while others opt to use a pseudonym, tag, alias or nickname?
same reason I use a nom-de-plume , in fact more than one, in my writing - to retain a degree of anonymity
and probly more importantly, privacy
One theme I have noticed from time to time in threads is the feeling that a given thread was not needed because it was a topic that has been covered over and over again in previous threads. So my question is the following: If you were to brainstorm and/or review previous threads, what interesting and/or important topics at least somewhat related to chess have not yet been covered? If the topic has been covered, perhaps there is a nuance that could be explored more. My idea for this particular post is simply to come up with a list of future topics.
