No.
if a tree falls in the middle of a forest and no 1 is there to hear it does it make a sound?
Why are these posts created? You should ask something a little less generic...
like.... if one uses the restroom for #2, will they actually weigh less when they are done?
think of it this way, if a tree falls, and a deaf man sees it and calculates what sound he should be hearing (he's deaf), then he should reach the conclution that it must have made a sound, he just can't hear it, our senses can't pick on everything, if you don't know about the existance of some man, it would be very unpolite to claim he does not exist...
it made a sound, whether anyone heard it or not.
if you can't see an atom, does that mean it doesn't exist?
If the forest caught fire and burnt to the ground, and nobody saw it, did it really burn? Of course it did, and I'm inclined to belive it made some noise when it did it.
Oxford Dictionary - vibrations which travel through the air or another medium and are sensed by the ear.
So basically, the tree makes a vibration in the air but there is no one there to hear it so it cannot be defined as a "sound".
there are many vibrations around us, only the ones we detect can be called sound. A tree falling away from any detection is the same as the vibrations around us that we cannot detect. we do not call them sounds
lets see if you can anser this lol IF THERES A TREE IN A FOREST AND NOBODY IS THERE TO HEAR IT DOES IT MAKE A SOUND? post comment please :P
a TROLLS SUBJECT
a sound is defined as a pressure wave hitting a detection device and being converted to a sound.
so the tree falling would produce a pressure wave but unless within its limited range it did impinge upon a dectector (eg an ear drum) then it would produce no sound.
This is exactly correct. Much like an AM radio signal never hitting a reciever, thus no "sound".
