If chess is haram, do Alireza Firouza's parents know he plays chess?

I can't imagine a strict Muslim parent allowing their son to play chess much less excel at it.

My experience of Muslims tells me they fear god and hell so much not even a grandmaster son is enough incentive to allow him to break the rules which playing chess is. It's haram meaning against Islamic law.

I strongly suspect Alireza Firouza tricks his parents into believing he is off to Mecca while sneaking up off to the chess world championships.

Hmmmmm. Should we inform his parents or perhaps the grand mullah of Mecca?

Let's save a soul from the broad and narrow.

For what does one gain if he plays chess but loses his soul?

P.S alireza is many years younger than me and I feel no embarrassment at considering myself a worthy counsellor to him (not in chess I mean in normal stuff)
