If you want to play with your friend, but are having difficulty, consider setting the mood first

If your using the website or app.

Go to the menu (the three vertical lines found at the top left)

Then, click on the "play against computer" button (It may look like a microchip if you're using mobile).

Lastly, you go to the AI strength settings (it should look like a gear), where you will see a black or white Computer icon.

Simply click the icon and it should turn the computer to a human opponent, whereas you can play against your friend on the same screen.

Hope this helps! :D

Why do you have to be so mean
RickDico

No chessboard here.   Maybe it would be best to use two devices, since it doesn't look like it's possible on one device (laptop).

Guys, i have found it!! Just go to the analysis section from the website or type "chess.com/analysis". You are able to play with your friend 1v1 on the same computer, or just practice.

Ivy_herself

just go to the learn section and click analysis then it will open a chess board and you can play on the same computer

What exactly doesn't work?

I think he's talking about playing against a friend on the same device.

baldur10

why on earth would they remove this? chess.com strips itself down, and hides basics stuff behind a paywall, disgusting
