Would he make Magnus a better player? Thoughts?

Having any top 10 player work for him full time would be potentially very useful.

But just like when Kasparov tried to help him, the collaboration isn't a guaranteed success.

When did Kasparov try to help him? As I understand it, he coached Carlsen for a while when he was a kid, and apparently it worked out pretty well.

He coached Carlsen when Carlsen was already an adult, and already rated #1 in the world IIRC (but not world champ yet). It lasted less than a year. A few months. Yeah it was useful while it lasted.
