When did Kasparov try to help him? As I understand it, he coached Carlsen for a while when he was a kid, and apparently it worked out pretty well.

When did Kasparov try to help him? As I understand it, he coached Carlsen for a while when he was a kid, and apparently it worked out pretty well.
He coached Carlsen when Carlsen was already an adult, and already rated #1 in the world IIRC (but not world champ yet). It lasted less than a year. A few months. Yeah it was useful while it lasted.
