Well if you are going to engage in a 30 minute game why play all your moves in 3 mins ?...surely you would be better off playing blitz if you don't want to play a considered game.

I see this all the time , players whom are more used to blitz / bullet , play at a simarly high speed when in a slower time frame game as they are in the habit of playing against the clock just as much as the opponent.
Which all probably explains why i never play anything less than 30min games.
However in it still useful to be able to rattle off your first 6-10 moves in a few minutes if your opponent doesnt open with anything radical , as it gives slower players like myself extra thinking time in the more complicated mid-game phases.
I'd say theres probably an optimum middle ground for allocating appropriate thinking time for each move without losing against the clock or falling massively behind on time :-)
But like you say , poor time management from your opponent on this occasion.

If you only used 13 minutes for 22 moves, then you TOO are moving too fast. If you are using approximately 40 seconds per move then how are you to make the best moves?

Thanks for this reassuring forum trotters, If you have time on your clock you should surely use it. I would estimate I have about (hopefully) 60+ years before my clock runs out.

Lol, I believe you, but your occupation is a troll. ^_^
My opponent played a hyper accelerated dragon variation of the sicilian defence...unfortunately for him I was able to mate him in 22 moves .
his biggest failure in my opinion was to play all 21 of his moves in 3 .5 mins whereas I played my 22 moves in 13.5 minutes...is it any wonder he lost ?; check it out and look at the beautiful mating net that he fell foul of.
