I think this thread has been a good allegory for life. It's so absurd that the only correct response is to laugh as we are taken along for the ride.
if you know

im glad that you agree with me borgqueen and im glad that anthony cg got the treasure im looking for, it help enlighten my mind.anyway since you agree with me borgqueen i have a last questions to you.my 1st question is in the sentence that the general say in the movie windtalkers''its of strategic importance that we capture this island'',is this means that the strategy of the general is to capture that island ? because this island is important?,are you agree with me or not?.my 2nd question is in the sentence''its of strategic importance that we capture this island'', and this island is the island of saipan,is this island is the only strategic for the general or all the islands in japan?.i wait again to your response borgqueen.

Oh wow...it's amazing how BorgQueen's immense patience can provide English lessons for a year without being paid. It's also amazing how long the student takes to learn a word...
Yes, I'm dreading "positionally important".

Who is it who said he's got it? lol
Why do you ignore every question asked of you?
Why did you reject my game challenges?
is this means that the strategy of the general is to capture that island ?
Well... not enough information. The general is stating the strategic importance of capturing that island. Is that the general's idea or not? If it is then yes. However, the sentence itself doesn't give enough information.
this island is the island of saipan,is this island is the only strategic for the general or all the islands in japan?
Again, not enough information. The information is not revealed in the sentence.
This is my take on it.
is this means that the strategy of the general is to capture that island ?
The genereal views this as an IMPORTANT place to capture, and it is a good strategic move to do so. It might not be his strategy, but he says it is important to do so.
this island is the island of saipan,is this island is the only strategic for the general or all the islands in japan?
Only using the sources of infomation, he is only directing his meaning onto one island, the island of saipan. Other islands may or may not we don't know.
Its a bit wierd really. Its like saying "the queen just got took." Does that mean that all queens on every chess match related to this one just got their queen taken? As the "the" implies, it is only the one match in that it got took. Same with the island, THIS island.

im glad that you agree to my 1st question borgqueen, and i hope that you will watch the movie too so that you can get a full information.okay, now before i play a chess game with you,i want you to answer my last question.okay my question is in the movie when the general say''its of strategic importance that we capture this island'',its seems to me that this is difficult to some other people who watching the movie to understand what he saying, especially me,so why he should just say'' its importance that we capture this island'' so that all the people who watching the movie will understand what he is talking about?.i wait again to your answer again borgqueen.

Wait lemme rephrase my explaination.
Strategically important.
Important stategy to.
The important describes the strategy, not the strategy describes the important, if you want to break it down that way for the easiest understanding.
However we all know that it can be the other way round (don't worry kurokug), that stategically important/of strategical importance means basically the same thing.
(of) Strategical importance (to) puts it as a "noun"
Strategically important puts it as an adjective/to describe something.
Example of strategy describing important:
Stragetigically, it is important to gain space so your pieces have more movement to create an advantage.
Its the same as an important strategy in this case. Don't worry yourself too much over this, its only a bit of grammer; even if I am wrong, I still understand the basic concepts of it and stuff, and I'm speaking nice clear plain english right now :D

I'm pretty sure the strategic (adjective) describes the importance (noun).
There are a number of reasons that something can be important. Strategy is only one of them so it does help to include it in order to provide the listener (save for Kurokug) with a little bit of context.
"It is of importance that we capture the island." gets the point of its importance across without any context, but "It is of strategic importance that we capture the island." helps us to understand why it is important.
Many other adjectives could be used in place of strategic (as BorgQueen has illustrated), but in this case strategic was the most appropriate one because it best conveyed the context.

Kurogkug is a Natural Language Processing program - similar to ELIZA. (Probably).

Hmm, your assessment means, by definition, that he did not pass the Turing Test.

BorgQueen is the only tester.

thank you again borgqueen.now i can play with you but how?.i try before to play with you with this website but i notice that it takes a while to move the peices can you give me the procedure?. or if you want too can you play in yahoo games? because i always play there.i wait again to your response borgqueen.

Bells! Whistles! Fanfare!
It's almost like there is going to be a game.

i have a question to you ''the grobe'' about your sentence.you said that ''its importance that we capture this island gets the point without context, but ''its of strategic importance that we capture this island'' help us to understand ''why'' it is important.so my question is how i can understand why? i mean why it is important?,can you explain to me why it is important or what is your answer to your sentence why it is important?.i wait to your response ''the grobe''.
Then, he or she is strategically playing you and everyone for silly laughs. Suckers, we all are.
