If you were given $50 and had to spend it on a chess product, what would it be?

It's spelled couch.

Although if you can get a coach for $50 it's probably counterfeit.

It's still a good buy. You can make him do house chores instead.

A good chess book.  And a good (ale) beer, from a brewery within 500 miles of me.

Always better when it's fresh.

3 weeks ago I got a folding 18" wooden chess set with 3 1/2" king for $59.99.

There were 3 different sizes, I got the biggest but the middle size was $49.99 and the smallest was $39.99. Not bad for a cheap set and I always wanted a folder. So now that I have that, if I had $50 to spend now I'd probably spend it on a book.

I just realized, if I could find a good 3d or grand chess set for $50, I'd buy it instead of a USCF membership...

Notice that I used the word imagine because, I truly don't know. it is speculative on my part...perhaps I have an over active imagination... ? Wink

What if the mule has diabetes?

Screw it, I'll just buy 5-1/5ths of 110 vodka for my chess playing...that is a good investment...

Are rating points for sale?

Thunder_Penguin

The BBC Master Game series, it's amazing for learning chess, but unfortunately it's been deleted off YouTube and it's sold for about $50

I noticed that as well.  Do you find it odd that the makers of "Master Game" contacted Youtube about their 35-year old TV show that practically nobody cares about?

$50 is $50 ....

ThrillerFan

More chess books, to go with the 300 to 350 I already have.

Eh, not exactly.

Many artists especially on the fringes don't mind unauthorized reproduction like on Youtube since it gets the product some advertisement.  In addition, many people that view the show on Youtube will still purchase the DVD.  It's not like "The Master Game" is some hot ticket item that "everyone's talking about".

Counterfeiting is tempting from time to time, but isn't worth it if you get caught...so for me $50 is $50

The topic of this thread is interesting, but the OP is not a chess player, and has proven to be a professional trooler in other threads.  I would buy a can of trooler-be-gone, and spray it all over my computer screen.

Be careful not to spill it on yourself.
