Illegal Castle from Game on this Website

It never ceases to amaze me how many people blame the program for the malfuction between their own ears.  I've never seen this site allow an illegal move, but I've been prevented from making seemingly legal moves dozens of times, due to things I didn't notice, like a pin or a bishop on the other side of the board.

I've played OTB games where we both realize one of us goofed a few moves back.  I finally notice a bishop or something that I overlooked previously, and now I can't have castled, or can't have pushed that pawn or whatever; or I let my opponent get away with something like that myself.  It happens.

The other thing that happens OTB is "is this checkmate?"  One of us thought it was, and it wasn't.  I've even played game where we both agreed that such and such was a mate, and then later we realize there was a way to block the final check or one of the attacking pieces was hanging or whatever.  Oops.  It happens.

However, none of this EVER happens using this site's engine to prevent illegal moves.  It has better board vision than the best human I've ever played, and it has a more thorough understanding of the rules too.

Erik would never go for it of course, since he wants the site to be as profitable as possible, but maybe you should have to pass a basic chess competency test before you're allowed to play?  And yes, qudhru, I'm talking about you...

This is not a bad idea and I would like to see a similar idea apply to otb tournament players . But all organizers care about anymore are entry fees so numbers of entrants is all they are concerned with . I speak to OTB tourney chess now .

And what should the requirements be before someone is allowed to post in the forums...?
