Hi, I'm pretty new to this site and to Chess in general and have only played it with my family and friends on occasion. I'm not sure whether or not I've posted this in the correct forum section (let me know if it is or not). I was wondering if any of you guys know where a good place to start learning e.g. books, DVDs, videos or even sites. I know the basic rules of chess about how each piece move and of course how to win, but I want to start learning the different openings and tactics to win. Thanks for the help in advance. Laughing

As far as beginner books go I'm a fan of Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess and Winning Chess: How to See Three Moves Ahead. Both are books consist largely of tacticle exercises that are clearly and engagingly explained.
