any tips please?

RookRoller7
In the opening,
1. Always advance your pawns to the center and protect them
2. Move out your knights and bishops-preferably only once
3. Castle your king-preferably kingside, but queenside is better than nothing
These will give you good opening positions.

Join a Chess club and play correspondence and vote Chess to learn openings/defences. The other advice by others is quite good as well.

Snowchlobe

that was stressful watching white fail to convert with 2 queens and 2 rooks vs a rook and some pawns lol

I think you should look for your opponents checks, captures and attacks more to prevent blunders.
