I had understood everyone got that message but from what DrSpudnik and Ziryab say seemingly not.

I wonder what triggers getting it or not getting it?

It is a mystery, just like the number of unidentified cheaters on this site.

Those two haven't gotten it because they were here before the practice was put in place.

They're geezers.

Thanks bigpoison.

I suspect that I did not get it because I passed 2000 a few years before they started sending it out. We're geezers.

Probably you got it a long time ago.

I got it when I crossed 2000 in CC before swiftly diving back to the 1950s, about a year ago.

What's so special about 2000 that those who cross that line require an insulting e-mail? I'd imagine that the proper cutoff would be 2200 or higher. I mean, if everyone already knows that the big brain is rummaging through your games and the penalty for cheating is the old heave-ho, why even bring up the issue at all?

I think it's to encourage more titled players to use chess.com with an assurance that cheating is being "controlled" to a large degree

I think unless chess.com comes up with an active anti-cheating monitoring mechanism like the one Fide Chess Arena has, its futile to play here. Every 3rd player I encounter is actively cheating. Yes they get caught but is highly demoralizing to those of us who play a honest game. Get your fricking act together chess.com or lose users.

How do you know every 3rd player is cheating?

Less people are able to cheat at faster time controls like 1-0.  That's one reason I mostly play that time control

I just saw a video the other day of some software that someone wrote that could play onc Chess.com using a computer. It just made all the moves for you.

Avatar of BeL0ve

Yes, there are interfaces, but their use isn't very common thankfully.  More common is people using chess software during longer games to suggest moves.
