Any book out of Seirawan's Winning Chess Series (yes, there is a strategy and endgame book) is excellent.
Also good is Chernev's Logical Chess Move by Move. A collection of games where the author gives some explanation for every move of every game.
Improving Middle Game

Hi everyone, Im just starting out and I oftentimes dont know what to do after some of the basic opening moves. Many chess guides online are very vague about how to play, and Im sure many other people have the same problem so if anyone knew any useful resources about the middlegame and endgame that would be cool if you could share it, thanks.
