Perhaps in the UK boner is not commonly used for erections, but in the USA it is still commonly used for erections. In fact, Viagra is often referred to as a boner pill.

How very misleading of you!
Not only was it not going over too well, but seemed prone to misinterpretation and a severely negative over-reaction. It wasn't worth it. The fact that it put a couple of rancid replies out of context was an inadvertant bonsus.
