Is there some way to avoid playing against people of a certain nationality? I hate playing indians bcuz they pull some weird coccomany opening moves that make no sense n still they are winning games that they should deserve to loose. And also maybe not play against nortkoreans for political reasons???

I agree, beginner Indian players have some of the weirdest, most unpleasant to play against (and not because it's so strong) playing styles out there.

BronsteinPawn

Just let your frustration out buddy.

I'm guessing you tend to lose against these "weird coccomany opening moves"?
Joker-rev

I havent played a live game yet on this new V3 version but we could always abort a game once a seek was found. You can look at there flag and if you dont like it, abort and send out another seek.

Yeah... If I was playing under an English flag I don't think I'd be encouraging people to adopt that strategy...

(Actually, I don't think I'd encourage it if I was playing under any flag.)

a) re: Indians (it is capitalized) - learn how to play against the "weird coccomany opening moves"

b) re: North Koreans: yes, that would be good, punish an entire country of people for the actions of a lunatic leader

Wow, what a piece of work.

Personally I never turn down games against nationalities I dislike. I punish them by playing coccomany openings instead.

Heh, heh, heh.

BTW, did anyone go look at the last 3 games the OP played against people with the Indian flag? Seemed fairly normal openings to me. Better than some I have played against (and then I get mad at myself because I get frustrated I don;t know how to punish them - of course I stink ...).

sharkey101

I've never had an issue with them.

Coccomany? The bloody Finnish, making up words, being all Nordic.

A variation on "Why must I lose to this idiot?"

There may be many good Indian players,

but Indian players I had encountered had bad sportsmanship..

When they were down a piece, they neglected a game and never returned.

Some Indian players insulted my country after the game.

I know they do not represent the whole country,

but it was unpleasant experience with them sad.png

Strangemover

South Korea has one of the more interesting flags anyway. Funky.

I dont judge. I know games got aborted by my opponent when they see it was me, there nemesis, lol

Cherub_Enjel

Anywhere decent/intermediate Indian players I can't tell the difference usually - normal playing style.

But beginner indian players, from OTB and online, have almost consistently played really strange-looking chess, which is often a really weird-looking move in the middle of some very logical ones.

'Nordic' refers to the northern European nations Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland as well as their Dependencies, Greenland and The Faroe Islands. The Finnish language is not Germanic, unlike that of Norway, Sweden and Denmark and is most similar to Hungarian oddly.

Joker-rev

Its good for you, teach you new styles. As long as its within the rules, play on, play on.

nordic also refers to people of nordic/germanic ancestry.  the finns are not nordic, as I said.  their country may be commonly accepted and grouped as a nordic country, but they are not a nordic country because the country is the land and people, and the people aren't nordic.  even if it is officially designated nordic, it is mislabeled in that case.
