Some background: The Chicago Chess Blitzers (featuring IMs Angelo Young, Max Maksimovic, and a host of masters and experts) have been challenging other cities to gather their strongest speed players and face off in team matches. They defeated Cleveland's Heavy Hitters team (headed by IM Calvin Blocker) on Aug 5, at Case Western Reserve University.  During Round 9, a small argument broke out concerning the rule book: When can you claim Insufficient Losing Material?

Interesting to see that Calvin is still playing. He was an up and coming teenage player in Cleveland when I was going to Case Western Reserve and had just gotten into serious chess. I managed a lucky draw the first time we played, but he crushed me the second time. If I hadn't graduated and moved to Boston, he would have kept on crushing me.
