I recomend My system as well as the sequel chess praxis. I like the quality chess edition.
Also, the Comprehensive Beginner Chess Course - GM Damian Lemos
is very good, as well as the 3 sequels covered in the manifesto mega bundle.
If you got those though, I'd wait for a sale. They have 50% off often enough, and 60% off sometimes. If you sign up for thier "10 Gm secrets" or something you will also be notified if there is a sale.
There are other books I like too, but this is my favorite, and the videos are very helpful as well.
I found Neil McDonald's books which go through GM games move by move and talk about the ideas to be very helpful. Two titles are _Logical Chess Move By Move_ and _Chess: The Art of Logical Thinking_. They are also entertaining, which I find helpful! I read parts of them enough times that I was able to say "Oh, this position is like that Radjabov game" (I got a nice exchange sack and win out of that particular resemblance, so I remember it fondly).
Post-mortems of serious games, especially tournament games, are also good: talk to your opponent, talk to a coach or strong friend if you have one.

The time has come. My tactical openings and games can only get me so far. To reach NM I need to develop a strong understanding of positional play too. Does anyone have any advice on how to begin studying positional chess? (Videos, games to look at, books, openings, etc). . .Also, is anyone interested in training a young player, free of charge, (: in positional play ?
