IQ= Chess skill?

I have an idea. We should have a competition to guess the number of threads that have been started on this subject since the founding of chess.com. I nominate the OP to go back through and count them. My guess is 5,149.

Mr_ha

All you guys who are ripping on the OP because you think he is trying to be cocky, you guys are idiots. He just wants opinion.

I personally believe there is a very small corralation but there.

Opinions are what start wars. Hitler had opinions. We can achieve a utopian society by merging all of our collective intelligence via the internet. Then we will all be the same, think the same. The idea of opinion would not exist. People tried in the past with laws, regulations, religions, traditions, society, beliefs, etc., to unify the people, and this did good, but there wasn't enough technology for it to go 100%. Now we have what it takes. We can all live as one, be one, be nothing, be satisfied. If everyone joins the collective, all humans will be a whole, and there will be no conflict. But it will only work if everyone does it, so if you rebel against the collective, well, your elimination will be for the greater good.

You've got it backward there little hitler...
The glory of the few, save the many from their suffering

Look around you... everything of value we have today from science, art, technology, philosophy... always come from outside the *herd of sheep*, which you so adore

The great things that came from outside would still come, but they just wouldn't seem great because everybody would have them; everybody would have the collective minds of Newton, Galileo, etc., so they would be dwarfed by the collective.

In the collective, everyone is one and nobody can have their feelings hurt from losing, so we play without draws or stalemate. Stalemate, like all problems is the result of imperfection in society.

IQ tests are primarily neasures of reasoning speed and recall, so I wouold imagine that yes there will be a fairly strong correlation.

Idiots that believe their opinions are truths start wars.

I see that my name has been called. Is this the truth?

Don't be silly.  What he wants is to tell everyone he has an IQ of 152.

lol

Chances are even after the stalemate reference he'll still be too dense to comprehend.

And naturally TheGrobe is right.  I don't recall a more transparent attempt to self-congratulate.  In fact, it's transparent like a....

Which is odd, because I've got to imagine there's a stong negative correlation between IQ and usage of the phrase, "SUPERGENIUS MUTHA."

At first I thought this guy was another dumb kid posting random nonsense, but when I found out that his IQ was 152, I looked everything over and it turns out all of that stuff is riddled with deep philosophical significance. I think that it only looks to us and chess.com like he's losing simply because we just don't understand the game as deeply as he does. Maybe checkmate isn't the real answer; maybe he's found something more important, perhaps even more important than getting your king to the other side. The simple fact that a guy with an IQ of 152 gets beaten by people with an IQ of 90 makes chess an obviously flawed game; We need to use his unique abilities to make it right.

StairwayToTruth

There is NOTHING more important than bringing the king to the other side. I'm usually open to new ideas, but THIS is something that is best left untouched. Much like the CORRECT and PROVEN theory that the earth is flat. Those silly 'science' people think they know what they're talking about.

theoreticalboy

Quite right; the earth is flat, which is precisely why one must escort the king to the other side.

I like sports (in particular Hurling - a Skillful Irish game).

It is essential to practice the skills in order not only to improve but to maintain skill  levels.

Chess is a workout for the mind. Improving some in areas of lateral thinking or sharpening forgotten skills. Certainly helps maintain a healthy mind.

bigpoison

It is threads like these that clearly illustrate what chess.com has lost since the ouster of Tonydal.
