Why thankyou ANOK I was thinking exactly the same thing, it crystalises the issue very well.
Iran, chess, and the psychological bullying of non-hijabi defiant women

Wait ANOK: robbie lives in a bigoted society, yet is kicking off against another bigoted society...pot kettle.
Such churlish boorish behavior, you sir are a cad and a bounder!

soon as we jettison everyhing below gretna and join the EU all the rubles will start flowin back in.

kay in my area ukip recorded the second highest vote in 2015 , but a year later im still ok with my neighbours
so yes this occurs (prejudice) in my area but maybe knowing its in front of yur face gives you good reason to highlight it

my first take on this subject was that donning a hijab for a short period of time is a small price to pay to play but robbies article well i see that im wrong , a person should not be co erced to do anything against their wishes

Bravo Paikidze!!! If you were not married, I for sure would endeavor to win you over.... In my lifetime I have seen walls crumbles and bigoted regimes GO!!!! The zeitgeist is on the side of FREEDOM, and FREEDOM for courageous Iranian women who take great risk in Iran just even discussing the issue..... No one can keep people oppressed and win in the long run.... it is just a matter of time.... I hope it will be in my lifetime!!!!!!!!!

After I initially posted Nazi Paikidze's aversion to being coerced to wearing a garb that she objected to and the thread was locked down there have been various threads dealing with the subject with people proffering argument and counter argument. Chess dot com even held a poll on the matter as far as I am aware and in the interim the US chess federation has come out in support of Nazi's stance.
Here is an excellent article ...
Rob me old china, do you think it's reasonable to label anyone who dares criticise the boycott as a "psychological bully"? That's a standard device that, used by holier-than-thou liberals the world over to shut debate down, they do it all the time. Just to clarify: Paikidze has the right to boycott the event, but this doesn't magically suspend everyone else's right to voice an opinion... deal with it.
And I particularly enjoyed this gem, which pops up near the end:
On that day, I realized that outsiders will have no impact on the quest of Iranian women for freedom.
Well, why is she supporting the boycott then, while throwing poison darts at anyone who doesn't? I mean, what is Paikidze if not an "outsider"?
youve sourced a really balanced article there , robbie , and it makes so many points i agree with ,
