Is a touchpad a handicap in bullet chess.

I suspect that most of my oponents are playing bullet chess with a mouse, so being on a laptop without a mouse would presumably put me at a disadvantage. However, is this actually true?

As I've never played bullet chess, and I have no interest in doing so in the near future, do not consider me an authority on this topic. However, I can imagine that using a touchpad would put you at a serious disadvantage in bullet chess, just as it puts you at a disadvantage in other games that require  you to do actions quickly, such as certain videogames.

i play 1 min on chesscube on a laptop with no mouse and am about 2000 so no need to worry,

i also play LoL with the same laptop and i am quite good:D

What about a mouse made especially for bullet chess?  I hear those are all the rage in Japan.

What does it do? Evaluate the position and direct the cursor toward the piece that should move?

I play 1 min. lightning a lot. Especially in openings, endgames, and forced variations, I can play several moves per second with a mouse (I use chess.com's premove feature). With a touchpad, it takes several seconds per move. This is a serious disadvantage for me, and I lose horribly whenever my mouse battery dies.

My opponents are quite predictable at this level, so I can get away with premoving away from checks and responses to captures, which make up a large portion of any game.

yes. it's also not really ideal for blitz either.

Thanks for your insight. Keep it coming.

Excellent point. I don't want the cord knocking down pieces while I push a piece with a mouse.

Perhaps cordless is an improvement for OTB.

I used to lose all my games on time until I got a mouse. Just buy one, even good quality ones are pretty cheap these days. It's a worthwhile investment to your rating.

bruh Idk how much I need but definetely not several seconds.. also the germans messed up my hand pretty badly.. this is a serious disadvantage for me. KEKW
But it might take several seconds tho.. if you have to move twice! KEKW
