Is speling really that important?
Is anybody else annoyed by this?

sometimes ...in the dark of the night ...when everyone's asleep ...i use a dictionary!
Ban him! BAN HIM!

Kinda scary! Makes you wonder ELSE he does, when nobodys around.

I didn't even know there was a spell checking tool available around here. I hate those things, anyway. If I don't know how to spell a word, I use a different one.

I think that would reduce some people to ebonics

You are so perceptive and rightfully concerned, because once I become tired of the dictionary ... I reach for ... the slide rule!

What's the point of having spell check at all, if you have to dig out a dictionary?
What's the point of using spell check when you have a dictionary and a mind? Spell check corrects your mistakes, but you're not engaged in the process. You continue to make the same mistakes over and over because the machine will catch your error. If spell check annoys you, wood show fur, turn it off, use a dictionary and become a better speller.

Reminds me of the question, "What's another word for thesaurus?"

I was thinkin' more along the lines of Porky Pig.

I do use a dictionary, believe it or not. But I also like to use spell checker. When I use either, I try to remember how to spell the word, and it works some, but I have always sucked at spelling, and I always will.

if you are using firefox, you can turn off this option in Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> and uncheck the box that says 'Check my spelling as I type'
I don't want it not to check... I want it to correct!
Good luck with that.

Chrome:
Options ► Under the bonnet ► Language ► AutoCorrect Options ► SmartFilter ►
AvatarSelections ► Correct accidental usage of misspelt name and cAPS lOCK key
(Set this off).

I'm a poor speller, but even I know sometimes I spelled it right when it's underlined in red... of course instead of risking it I have to google the word to make sure
Do you have the correct dialect installed. For some reason I have Brittish English enabled, so when I type color, it wants me to spell it colour. I probably could fix it, I just dont care enough...
