Is Blocking People Who Flagged You in Chess Ok?

Hey everyone,

I have a very important discussion today.

I have played against many people, and as a 15 year old, I have very decent skills in chess (check out my profile for more info).

One of my ways I win in blitz and bullet is through flagging. I use premoves and flag my opponent in games.

However, I have seen people who blocked me just because I flagged them. Theoretically speaking, flagging is not cheating, and I feel like that it is quite rude to block people, just because they beat you in chess.

What do you think?

I saw.

For some reason, she blocked me too.

Don't understand.

I see.

Yes. That is me!

I am a pianist and if you didn't know, I have played at Carnegie Hall.

Yeah, I can understand them but it is sometimes just rude.

I used to think it´s a bit unpolite to flag in dead draw positions, like king and rook vs king and rook. Now, I don´t do this but learned to accept it as part of the game. Anyway, it stills bothers me a bit.

In other situations, I don´t see anything wrong in flagging.

Got it.

Yes, it is quite annoying to be flagged in blitz, but still, it is a part of the game. You signed up for it.

And thank you!

If you understand... why do you care ? To boot ... make a thread about it? Clearly it’s an issue for you - despite the denials.

StormCentre3

It’s simply an ethical issue. Win points at any cost.

Same old story - everybody else does it ... so shall I .

I am talking to @Blitzkriegboy99.

Yes, flagging is a part of blitz and bullet.

That is what I mean.

ShamusMcFlannigan

Time controls are part of game.  If you don't enjoy that aspect of blitz, you should play longer games.

StormCentre3

Bullet is nothing more than a clock contest.
Blitz with minutes remaining in K+R  vs K+R playing to flag - utter nonsense.

practiceO

Yeah, the feature is there so you don't have to see or play against someone.

StormCentre3

A game today 15/0 K+R vs K+R went 50 extra moves - both players hoping for a mouse slip. Highly rated players often make fools of themselves. The almighty rating point becomes highest priority.

How is that at any costs?  Time is a major factor in blitz/bullet.  I don't see any ethical ramifications from playing an online board game quickly.

It's annoying, but it's how I win games.

"Not my fault you had to actually think" is how I roll
