Is cheating in puzzles bannable?

Me personally, I have a low puzzle rating but when I see people with ratings of 60k+ I'm wondering if people are using engines in puzzles and if so, is it bannable?

Puzzle rush and Rated tactics

--The below are NOT ALLOWED--

  • Engines You may not use any engines to help solve tactics! This includes Chessmaster, Fritz, Komodo, Houdini, Stockfish, Chessbase with any active UCI engine, etc.
  • Tablebases - Tablebases are chess databases that contain every possible move for endgames of up to 7 pieces. These will always lead to a win when a win is possible, and are for that reason the same as asking an engine to analyse a position. Tablebases are not allowed!
  • Help from other people - You may not to ask for help from another person! Do not ask anyone for advice on your tactics! Do not let anyone else play on your account!
  • Books, opening databases, or any outside help at all! - For puzzle rush and rated tactics, on Chess.com, if you are looking at anything other than the game in front of you, you shouldn’t be! Focus on your game, and play with your own mind and strength!

How much time are they spending on those puzzles?

At what point is your puzzles rating overkill?

I think there's a way to memorize the highest rated puzzles and just grind.

I still want to improve regularly. Not by memorizing high rated puzzles' solution

There is a rather limited set of puzzles over ~3200.  When you get use to seeing the same 100 puzzles over and over, you tend to rack up points.

Give your head a shake.

Please do not encourage behavior that might result in a concussion

Then don't worry too much about what others are doing. Just concentrate on your own progress

ok makes sense, but most accounts with 60000 puzzle rating, wouldn't be able to get up to 3200... (like 1200 playing strength)

*Welp* took a look at your puzzle rating and looks like you chose the bad ending. Hope you feel better about your sub 1200 rating with a puzzle rating 3x higher sad.png

I was inclined to give the OP the benefit of the doubt, but the abrupt rise in rating, combined with his post, well...... enough said. On another note, this site has twice tweaked their puzzle scoring algorithm in the last decade, which means it's impossible to judge long term improvement. Ten years ago I'd be rated around 1800 on this site, and now I oscillate between 2700 and 2800. Chesstempo is by far the superior puzzle site, both in algorithm consistency and puzzle quality.

What in the world would be the point of cheating to solve a puzzle?
marqumax
Allowed? No.
Bannable? Probably not because it’s hard to detect unless there’s a clear pattern in the stats
Santoy

My puzzle rating is nearly 1000 higher than my playing rating. There is little relationship between them.

I have to agree that I can't really get my head round cheating to solve a puzzle so I guess that it is more... deciding that they can't solve it and look at the solution for improvement.

It's not that they are cheating. It's just that they have practiced so many times that they have memorised almost every pattern for the puzzles.
