"Is Chess Becoming Too Memorization-Based? π§ π Whereβs the Creativity? π¨βοΈ"

With modern opening theory π going 30+ moves deep π² and engines π€ calculating everything to perfection, some players feel chess is turning into a game of memory rather than creativity.
But is that really true? Or does memorization simply open doors πͺ to even deeper strategies π° and creative ideas π‘?
Points to Discuss:
Are modern games just engine prep battles π» vs. π»?
Does deep memorization kill the joy π₯± of discovering new moves OTB?
Or is it part of the skill set that separates champions π from the rest?
Should there be formats with no opening books π allowed to encourage raw creativity? π₯
What do you think? Is modern chess losing its artistic touch π¨… or evolving into something even more beautiful? π
IMO even if and when chess is solved. It will be irrelevant to us humans. WE lack the capacity to remember enough moves and positions to make the game "boring and uninteresting".
Take endgame tablebases for instance.
A 7-piece chess endgame tablebase, depending on the format, can range from 17-20 TB for the Syzygy format to 140 TB for the Lomonosov format, containing nearly 424 trillion unique positions that are solved to determine the outcome of every possible endgame.
Yea...424 Trillion. And thats with just 7 pieces on the board. Now throw in mans imperfection and the game is just fine.

Chess, an artistic game that supposedly never loses its touch. But now, in online chess, some people are using engines and get away with it. Though some people get banned, the rest linger in the shadows. Right now, chess is corrupting, especially online chess. At least, thatβs what chess haters and checkers glazers say. Chess is really evolving, and people are getting smarter because of it! And it really shows how kingdoms go to war. Itβs beautiful, really.

What is the point in responding to a guy who is too lazy to write his own post?
The opening post is 100% AI slop. Complete nonsense from the first word to the last. It belongs in the trash.

If you wrote that post yourself (which you didn't), it's still nonsense.
In a chess game, opening theory usually lasts about 10-15 moves. Then there are still 20-30 or more moves left where players use their creativity to play good chess and win.
This was exactly the same 50 years ago. It was roughly the same 100 years ago, or even 150 years ago. The first huge opening theory book, the legendary "Bilguer" was published in 1843.

You used AI. You just avoided some words and emoticons.

I didn't use AI completely, I got an idea and wrote some sentences. I only used AI to add emoticons, correct grammatical mistakes, etc. Now if you want one created by myself, click here: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/do-you-think-openings-really-matter-that-much

And what’s the point literally responding to someone who actually wrote with their own effort with some dumb response; meanwhile you didn’t even use your effort. 100% AI slop on your behalf. And “you just avoided some words and emotions” LITERALLY AN AI DOES NOT DO THAT. Your proof isn’t valid that you didn’t use AI. It’s better to just not respond at all, AND WRITE IN YOUR OWN WORDS FOR REAL.
