Well, she can force a checkmate with pawns, when your kids are pawns, and the kids start to hate and resent you after spending 90% of their time with her, and they're still influenced easily by mom.

I think kids should be allowed. They just need to crank up moderation. Chess is a family friendly activity.

i personally don't want a girlfriend, but i would rather keep my options open than keep playing chess.
I'm thankful I never wanted a love relationship, same with friends, so yeah chess is better than that. At young age I learned how to keep myself occupied without needing others around me. And for over 20 years already I never got bored once.
As I am autistic, dealing with others often makes me feel exhausted and unsafe. Good thing that for all my hobbies I don't need to have others around me.
