Yeah, it's funny that way, how it has the largest player base but if you don't play the game the player base pretty much disappears.

Chess is great, but don't underestimate video games like Fortnite or Dota, they also require skill, strategy, study and practice. Most of casual players are like 400elo in these games, but also there are a pro scene with a skill bracket equivalent to a GM (in that game), I think they have more in common than different, enjoy both and you might be surprised!
