Is it considered bad sportsmanship to resign from games?

Hey, I'm very new to Chess so sorry if this is a really stupid question. I was just wondering if it considered slightly unsportsmanlike to resign from games you are clearly losing. Are you robbing the other player from a full victory by checkmating you? I will happily play along until the end if that's what opponents prefer, but I would rather be moving onto the next game if it's all the same.

It is considered GOOD sportsmanship to resign from games where you are clearly lost.

It is considered BAD sportsmanship to just sit in a lost position with your clock running until your time runs out.

Do I need points?

Thanks guys. I never meant to have running out the clock as the alternative, I just meant playing on until they are able to checkmate you.

In the last week, I had two guys resign against me in five minute blitz when they had eminently playable positions, and in both cases, the computer agreed with me that they were a couple of centipawns ahead.  You mustn't let me intimidate you into resignation just on account of my magnificence.
