Is it worth playing on chess.com due to cheats

Hi,

I want to ask the community that is it worth playing chess here as you get a lot of cheats who play perfect chess. Game analysis will tell 95-99% accuracy at 1000 levels. I was thinking of taking a premium membership but doesn't look worth it anymore. I do want to improve chess but playing against an engine is not worth my time. Please let me know your opinion.

If they had more of a real life community I would sign up for premium. You would be part of a team and know the people on the team are there to learn and not just use databases in daily.

Chess.com could:

1) Get staff to start game threads

2) People would discuss them

3) Those that are trustworthy and show knowledge about the games would be promoted to team leader positions.

4) Team leaders would coach players in sparring tournaments to help them.

5) Chess.com would then randomly make new teams from these players to play in a tournament. The coaches (team leaders) wouldn't know until the tournament started who was on which team. They would also have no incentive to help their players since they would be playing in different tournaments and also against each other.

6) Last, winners would discuss their games, just like post game interviews with the top GM

Yea, if they organized something like that I would gladly pay into it. But if all it is going to be is randomly pairing people who will sign up and play 700 players with 99% accuracy and beat 1500 players also with 99% accuracy, no I will not financially support it with a dime.

Thank You for your inputs. I had reported the cheat to chess.com. They have sent me a message mentioning that they have closed cheater's account and gave me back my rating points which I lost.

I am still waiting to see if someone I played also used assistance. I won't name names, but they are continually winning with 99%. If they are that good, then they shouldn't be playing 700 players. They should be starting at the 1800 level then.

I fully agree with you. 99% accuracy can be achieved by GM level etc. I don't think even an 1800-2000 who is playing a five minute blitz game won't make even one error in the game. I guess we can focus on our ethics and our integrity. Hopefully this site helps to improve so that we can participate in an actual tournament and get know how good we are.

Yeah. Cheats can only ever capitalise on your mistakes, so even if someone cheats against you, you can still learn from the game once you've lost by identifying your mistake and correcting it next time. Most cheats get reported and caught anyways do. You get your points back.

Chess.com has invested hundreds of millions of dollars on the best technology to combat these cheaters that use computer aimbots and achieve 2000% accuracy. It's an elegant system of buttons which employs blockchain technology and its currency, 'report coin'.

You will sometimes get 99% accuracy but mostly in shorter games when your opponent makes a mistake and you get a forcing line, after which he either resigns or it is checkmate. 95% games are a bit more common, in a 95% game you can get a few inaccuracies and say 1 mistake, and get that percentage for a game with an endgame where you have many easy decisions so you just pump up your accuracy in the end. Percentage of best moves can be a more solid indicator how good someone played and if there was cheating involved.

That being said, cheating can be a problem, but in my experience, you will get your points back in more cases than you've suspected someone cheated against you. Since february, I truly suspected once or twice that I lost due to cheating, but I got points back on 3 or 4 occasions.
