is it worth playing the Scandinavian 2.exd5 mf6 3.Bb5+
I play Bb5+ as white vs 2.Nf6 Scandinavian. Are you asking if its worth playing Nf6 because of the reply Bb5+? I still find it tricky with white in blitz, but less so in daily when I have time to think carefully. If I play Scandinavian with black I just go 2.Qxd5.
Well I think its a good move, you develop with check and force a decision from black how to block. If c6 dxc6 bxc6 I think Be2 is the best retreat square and you should be able to keep the extra pawn if youre careful. Other moves like Nc6/Nd7 I think you should play d4 and develop quickly. If Bd7 then Bxd7 and d4. Let black get the pawn back Nxd5 but get a lead in development and a nice position. Dont tie yourself in knots trying to keep the extra pawn.
this line sucks.its refuted by Nbd7
What do you mean by "refuted"? whites got a good position
this line sucks.its refuted by Nbd7
after Nbd7 what white gonna do?later black plays a6 then white bishop need to move again wasting a tempo.if bishop went to a4 then black plays b5 making the bishop to move again.then black knight goes to b6 threatening d pawn
Thankyou for giving backup to your opinion. I will disagree however, after Nbd7 white can play d4, Nf3, 0-0. Nxd5 by black seems necessary or c4 is coming and it's just down a pawn for nothing. There is little point in black going a6, white just drops back Be2. This is not really a tempo loss IMO because black has also lost time. Blacks kingside is completely undeveloped and it is he who is behind.
why you play bb5+ if you going to retreat to be2 black has just play an un develop pawn to a6 the white just move his nice develop bishop back to e2.which is a waste of time.Better to play 2.exd5 Nf6 3.Be2
The point is that with Bb5+ you are preventing the smooth development of blacks queenside pieces by giving check and forcing a piece to go to d7 - or a full pawn sacrifice with c6. Moving the bishop back to e2 after this is not a clear loss of time/tempo. The bishop has done its job as I just described and also how useful is a6 for black? Ok it makes the bishop retreat to another decent square but nothing else - so black has not gained a tempo with this move.
