Well on my test,I wrote Magnus as an example,unfortunately,my teacher told me he is NOT a historical figure and defined my passage as unable to follow the topic.Can someone tell me why?

A historical figure has to be dead. Otherwise they're contemporary. Even if their achievements are historical.

Even though Magnus is pretty godly at chess, he did not do or be anything recognizable (chess doesn't make you popular if nobody else plays it. Also, chess is deemed as lesser than other activities, such as basketball.Also, as the chainsaw bunny said, Magnus isn't dead yet.

It’s a writing task on proving diligent are the main cause on success with historical figure at about 100 words.And I use Magnus as he was started playing chess at around 5 and he assumed that’s one of the causes to be a champion in 13-23
