Is My System still worth the read?

When I first started playing chess I owned a copy if this book. I was young and looking back I don’t think I was ready for it. Eventually I donated it. So I’m thinking of picking it up again but if there are better books to read I’d rather do that. I’d like to get better at positional play.

One of the best, most entertaining and most influencial chess books ever. A must-read together with Retis Masters of the Chessboard!

This.

Some good books:

  • My System by Aron Nimzovich
  • Zurich 1953 by David Bronstein
  • My 60 Memorable Games by Bobby Fischer
  • Tal's book on his first World Championship match with Botvinnik
  • Pawn Power in Chess by Hans Kmoch
  • Pawn Structure Chess by Andrew Soltis.

My System is sure outdated considering how strong and mighty a 1500 can be nowadays. What do there is to learn in chess books? Nothing! All is in videos, puzzles and bullet games now! Why bother read the book of a guy who was the World Champion? It's nothing compared to a 1500 of today. Like a Euro from today is worth a million Euro from some time ago. For sure. Etc.

Damned, are people so... so... unbearable these days.
