Is pawn on 4th rank weak?

Hi, a little question: If I am Black and have a g-pawn or b-pawn on 4th rank, is it weak? Please write your fide rating beside answer so I can know to which degree to trust your answer.

Thanks.

Are you going to garbage up the forums again with 50 posts asking about chess?

Yes.  FIDE Rating 2642.

Jenium

Yes it is very weak. Here is the official chart published by FIDE:

a-pawn: strong

b-pawn: very weak

c-pawn: average

d-pawn: super strong

e- and f-pawn: depends on the colour of your shirt

g-pawn: very weak

h-pawn: strong

Hope that helped. FIDE-elo: 902

WHAT?? You want to send a pawn past the 3rd rank? If the pawn goes past the 3rd rank it can be attacked out their. What a scary place to have a pawn. I like to keep my pawn's and piece's safe on the 2nd and 3rd row.

It is very, very weak. You'd better resign. FIDE rating: N/A

O yeah but you didn't post it to me and I posted it to you so that means I win all the cookies.

GIex

The cookies have already been eaten, you can win only what's left from them (but I don't believe you'd like to).

In general, the pawn is very weak. You can just flick it with your finger and it tips right over. This is true of the a, b, c, d, e, f, g and h pawns. But which pawns are weakest depends on circumstances. The a and h pawns are generally the most vulnerable, because you can knock them over accidentally with your sleeve. Or, if you tend to get drunk and are prone to falling on your face, the center pawns are easy prey, as are your eyes.  If you're in the early in a fianchetto opening and are playing Magnus Carlsen the b and g pawns are the most likely to fall since you'll probably be shaking and knock them over while urinating on yourself.
