I just don't like the scandinavian. Doesn't work for me. It gets the queen out too early and white develops his pieces quickly.
But Black's pieces also get developed quickly. Annoyingly quickly.

Here is an recently played game where white won in the Scandinavian. The full game should be loaded so you can go thru the whole thing. The begining point I'm showing is move 10.
At this point you see white has developed all the minor pieces, castled and has the rook on the semi-open e file. You can now begin setting up an attack, while black is two moves away from castling.
Re: #24 ...
6...Bxd3 might be a mistake by Black. If Black simply develops a piece at move 6, then Black has 4 pieces out and White has 3. If Black swaps B's on d3, he has 3 out and White has 3. So the move 6...Bxd3 effectively hands tempo to White.

Don't retake the pawn with the queen, that's your mistake. Leave the pawn and play 2......Kt-f6 for rapid development.
I thought everybody knew that.
1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 is not a good opening in my opinion.
Gata Kamsky played some games using this opening.

Yes, he did. How well did he do with that opening?
Not bad at all. He used both 2...Nf6 and 2...Qxd5 with balanced results. Nf6 seems a reasonable option. See the games I found here (although they are not many) http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chess.pl?yearcomp=exactly&year=&playercomp=black&pid=15874&player=&pid2=&player2=&movescomp=exactly&moves=&opening=&eco=B01&result=
I always reference Anands loss to Kasparov in the 1995 WCC. At its core the Scandinavian simply gives white an early tempo.
I never thought much of this defense until I moved to Portugal where several of the strongest Portuguese players played this quite a lot and I lost a number of games to them in this defense . I now have more respect for it than I used to but still suspect its a bit unsound .
@pfren: You've echoed what I've heard from other strong players (the 3.Bb5+ annoyance and your comments on 3.Nf3).
Would you therefore say the club player (as black) is not going to get any fun out of this Nf6 line against a booked up player with the white pieces (in standard time control games)?

an interesting game in the .... Nf6 3 Bb5+ line by a Portuguese IM that used to specialize in the Scandinavian ....

Here is a Damaso game in the Portuguese variant of the Scandinavian but g4 is only played at move 9 g4 instead of your suggested 5 g4 .
