Is there a no resignation option on chess?

I’ve gotten sick of it as 4 out of my last 5 games my opponent reigned, even though 3/4 of them had good positions and could have played on. Is there an option or filter on games that disables resigning?

You are sick of people resigning? If there were no resign button, it would only encourage people in losing positions to run their time out. Also, disabling resigning isn't very logical because resigning doesn't exactly hurt anyone, unlike letting your time run out.

All my games were rapid. Most of them weren’t in losing position

What I’m saying is there should be like a competitive no resign mode.

At least punish them for resigning if it’s in a tournament or something

CleverOak

But only if it was trolling

Their punishment is that they lose...

I have NEVER resigned a game on chess.com. I’m not a quitter. If there was an emergency I would tell them, and then draw.

I've tutored chess for over 30 years. Just recently I tried to google:  "At what date was the RESIGN option created?"

Nobody can answer this.

Probably nobody knows the exact date. But it was probably just a few minutes after the game of chess was created. Some caveman (or possibly cavewoman) threw a temper tantrum after 7 moves and quit. They might have figured drawing buffalo on the walls was more productive.

Never resign!

What if your opponent refused the draw offer? Then what would you do? Your only alternative would be to time out, which is a worse sin than resigning.

I'll take the bait - resigning in chess exists for many reasons, and is a valid and essential part of the game. Telling your opponent they cannot resign is like telling a poker player they cannot fold.

What happens if the baby wakes up and starts crying? Just ignore it? Or if the wife (or husband) comes home and needs attention? Tell them "after this chess game"?

Your "no resignation" idea is inept.

I’m with CleverOak. My last 4 games have ended with early resignation as soon as I make a good move or two and take an advantage, with the game far from over. It an option, if you don’t like it then choose another challenge so you can quit as soon as your not winning.

they might have to leave.

Players should lose more points for resigning imo.

It doesn't waste time. Many enjoy playing to the death. Many blunder in winning positions.

Would you prefer if they just went away for 20 minutes till they ran out of time?

Apparently so!  Cos everyone loves games where their opponent just doesn't move.  They're a real thrill.
